HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! I hate being away from home during "American" holidays like Halloween. Nobody understands what the fuss is all about and I don't have the energy to try to explain the spooky magic of jack-o-lanterns, candy corn, trick-or-treat, and haunted house soundtracks.

Last week I was in a panic that there would be no pumpkins to carve. When I found a jack-0-lantern made of clay in the garden center, I bought it thinking it would be the closest thing to a real pumpkin I would be able to find. Lo and behold, a couple of days later, Jim spots a display of "proper pumpkins" in Spinney's and bought me two. They were about the size of two man's fists and cost 40 Dhs each (that's over $10!!).
Unfortunately, the carving party I planned to have tonight fell through (stupid foreigners don't understand the importance of the festivities) so I guess I'll save my pumpkins until the end of the month and use them as Thanksgiving centerpieces.
I just had the nicest surprise!! Jim and Anita stopped by with a bottle of wine. Just to say Happy Halloween (and to have some of my Spookicious Cookies). So sweet!
