Kate left for Spain this morning. I cried all the way home from the airport.

Amstel and Guiness woke me up at 5:30 AM by sliding their little wet noses onto the pillow where my sleepy head rested. I think, "ARghhh. Must get up or will be cleaning up tinkle in 10 minutes," so down the stairs we go. I figure I am getting a little manic about this new garden and grass because when I saw both of them doing their business, I had to hose down their general business area. The doggie pee burns up the grass. Something about the acid or salt in the wee leave big, yellow "burn" spots in my fresh new carpet grass. Not attractive.

I drove 20 minutes out to Jebel Ali to drop the man off and turned around back for home with a half-minded intention of making my 8:40 tee time for Ladies' Morning at NASC. On our way to work, The Man and I were discussing the bleak situation of renting the house in Houston. It's been seven months since we turned the property over to this guy for "management" and it's still not rented. Not even after I told him to drop the price. Grrrr. So now we're paying a mortgage on an empty house. Brilliant! When I got home, I reviewed the contract, made some notes, and fired off a strong letter. That took enough time for me to miss my tee time, so no golf for me today. Probably best to rest the shoulder for a day more.
May 1 marked the one year anniversiary of my meeting The Man and the birthday of an old friend. I think of her often and sent her wishes for a very happy birthday. Today I received her response and it sounds like she's doing great and I feel relieved that the bad feelings we left between us have faded. There are many people that I've lost contact with because of the enormous turn my life took, but I feel like there are some frienships that are strong enough to hold the test of time and distance... and mispoken words or thoughts never uttered.
To those friends, I say this: You. Me. A pitcher of perfect margaritas.

What a crazy weekend. I haven't blogged in a while, but I know a ton of stuff has been going on. I did manage to send out some emails that have been pending for quite some time. I don't know why it's hard to keep up to date. I guess because I'm not sitting in front of a computer with speedy e-access for 8-9 hours a day. Yeah, that must be it.

It was some Sheik's birthday, so it was a long weekend for us, which was nice. The K9 Puppy Ball was on Thursday night. We had an absolute BALL!! So much fun and raised a lot of dinero for the pups. Jim went nuts bidding on the auction (why are men so competitive? all the Americans were standing around the white board with their beers trying to one up each other. Silly boys.) and we went home with three prizes: a helicopter ride for four, a great woven rope bench, and a gold necklace & bracelet. I was pleased with all. We didn't get home until 3:30 AM, which is a stong indication of how much fun we had and why we came home with so many prizes! Kate got pretty snockered and had an emotional moment because she's moving away on the 6th.
We woke up after only 5-6 hours of woozy sleep and went for much needed lunch and then out to run errands. The garden is improving day by day and hopefully will be in presentable condition by Thursday. Did I mention? We're having about 20 Camels (Jim's hockey team) and their families over for BBQ and swimming on Thursday... which means I'll be busy all week getting the house and garden ready for these folks.
Katie is moving. *sniff* I stopped by her villa this morning at 7:30 with Starbucks and muffins for a quick chat and to load up some of her house plants and framed prints. It was very strange taking her things, but she insisted they needed a good home and wanted them to go with me.
I'm off to drop off The Man's clubs at NASC. I'm not playing today. I think I have a pinched nerve in my shoulder. It hurts at the most odd times, at certain degrees. Proably loading and unloading heavy house plants didn't help.
