i had a good day today. I got out and headed to some stores to do some desk shopping.... it's time to get the computer off the dining room table!!! I found one and the lady was really nice. She came down from 2,675 Dhs. to 2,000 dhs. - which comes to about $550. It's a pretty nice desk/table. What's even better is that as I was chatting with the sales lady and this decorator guy, I told them Jim and I were going to Ajman to get some wine as we do not have our license yet. the lady perked up and asked if the only purpose for our trip to Ajman was to get liquor - I said, 'yes, basically.' She said she knew people that would sell wine and beer - kind of an underground liquor market! She took my number and said she'd see what she could find for us!! Hoorah! More wine for Christmas dinner!

I have a stifcky computer ! akkk!! forgive mispellings!)
Then I had to go back to the big mall (CityCentre) to return wedding shoes - the heels were too high. Hmph. It's hard to find my size here so my selection is slim...
Then i went to IKEA where a man followed me through the entire store! HELLO! Freaky. IKea is no small store either... what's even more strange is that earlier today this little old arab man came up to me saying God knows what in Arabic and tried to give me money! the shop keeper told him to back off... I must be giving off some serious sexy vibes today! hahaha!!!
Now one more stop before going home to settle down and put my baby back ribs in the oven.... oh! I need to find a good potato salad recipe on line.. that's next!

Selecting the palm tree was a bigger source of entertainment than decorating the thing. We bought our little palm at the Dubai Nursery, which is actually a collection of almost 10 different nurserys. The whole thing reminded me of Mexico, except instead of being called "Senora," I'm called "Madame." We now have about 6 large tropical house plants in the villa which makes it nice and homey.

Today has been quite eventful. The nights have been getting cooler and cooler which has me thinking I better think about something to keep myself warm during our beachside wedding! My imagination has been going overtime and I had an idea for a simple shrug with minimal beading to go over my little sheath of a gown. During a few trips down Jumeriah Beach Road I noticed a bridal boutique and I decided to take my idea to them today. The designer listed to me, memorized the dress and began sketching the perfect wedding shrug. I was amazed. As he drew the graceful lines, I began looking around and realizing that I wasn't exactly sitting in David's Bridal. I asked the woman exactly what kind of price range we were talking... she could see my discouragement when she said 3,000 Dhs and offered the name of another tailor. I walked out disappointed and with my ready made gown in tow. As I drove down the road in seach of this obsecure sewing shop somewhere in Karama, I decided to throw a few Durhams to the wind and whipped our little rental car around. I walked back up to the shop and asked if they could do the piece for 3,000 and no more. She went to the back for a discussion and came back with a smile.
I'm going to have a couture shrug to go with my little ready made Monsoon gown. Now I'm getting excited about the wedding. It's hard to get to riled up without all my girlfriends surrounding me and showering me with bridal attention, but I've got to try or I'll miss this very important moment.
