This morning was my first meeting with K9 Friends, a dog rescue organization here in Dubai. I was excited about meeting not only some furry animals in need, but also some friendly faces. They are in desperate need of office help, which I just may be able to help out with. The ladies seemed very nice and very happy to have the extra volunteer help. The kennels are at maximum capacity right now, so finding the dogs happy homes is a major priority - not to mention fund raising to keep the kennels up and the dogs' vet bills paid. I am looking forward to helping out there!

Last night Jim and I had a bit of a satellite fiasco. Obviously, since Jim is a bit of a techno-geek, he's dropped considerable dime on televisions - neither of which we are able to find English channels on. It's so ridiculous, we just have to laugh. The Emirates really have the cell phone technoogy down to a tee, but the satellite/cable system leaves much to be desired.
What a great weekend... I really look forward to those two days when we get each other to ourselves, can soak in the sun, and talk and giggle, or lay in silence holding hands. We actually had to tell people we were going away for the weekend so we could have some one-on-one time together!
Tonight is the final World Cup game. I can't wait to go over to the Irish Village for some cold beer and watch the match!

We've been back in Dubai for a little over a week now and seem to be discovering a bit of normality with every passing day. Our plan touched down at DXB around midnight on Monday the 10th, we layed our weary, jet lagged bodies down around 2:00 AM, and awoke for Jim to head off to work and I began moving from the apartment to the villa. Movers and delivery men began arriving around 11:00 AM and they haven't stopped since. Every day something has to be dealt with, arranged, or delivered and none of this is easy considering English is everyone's second language.

The house is slowing looking more like a home. A bit of furniture and our 24 boxes of personal items shipped from home help warm the place up. Last night was my first opportunity to find an internet cafe and it is quite nice. It's very quiet, clean, speedy connection, and nice view of the busy street. It's actually on a street (that I cannot pronounce) which reminds me of Shepherd back home.
Tonight we're having two couples over for our first BBQ!! I've been marinating a big juicy steak (per Heidi's recipe!) for two days now and am looking forward to serving it up with some good ol' Texas pico de gallo and grilled shrimp.
Wedding plans are coming along nicely. Thankfully Collette at the hotel is very helpful and lowers my stress level by assuring me that everything will be taken care of. We'll see...
I would like to send a big THANK YOU to Katie and all the girls for throwing such a tremendous, trendy martini shower! I don't know what I did to deserve such kick ass girlfriends... but I sure am thankful. Also, big thanks to everyone who partied with us at Twelve Spot for our little pre-wedding reception - it was great to see everyone before we took off!
The cafe girl said that I could bring the laptop tomorrow and they'll help me load pictures onto fotki, so keep checking.
Much love to everyone - I miss y'all!!
