Friday I had to abruptly get off the phone with him - my very first phone call from him since he left and *BOOM* my boss is tracking me down to make edits to an eleventh hour report. When I got on the phone with my boss, I was shaking, tears were streaming down my face, and my boss is on the phone saying, "Hold on a minute OK let's change this paragraph up blah blah blah," while he conveniently works remotely from the sunny patio of a coffee shop. Life is not fair, but I take comfort in the fact that it will even out in the end. At 5:00 I flew out of the office and arrived at Hobby Airport in time to throw one Fat Tire down the hatch, calm my nerves by ranting to tolerant friends, and catch the 6:30 flight to Dallas. No waiting. No getting kicked off. No bellyin’ up to the bar as I sign up for every outgoing flight between 7:00 and midnight. Hoorah! One 40 minute flight later and Lara, Brad and Mr. Wilde are picking me up in Lara’s new ride and we head for dinner.

Saturday morning, Lara, her dad and I went to breakfast and to run errands: manicure/pedicures, Williams Sonoma to purchase wedding gift, Durango to browse leather couches, Dallas Affairs to pick up groom’s Longhorn cake and Texadelphia to drop it off. We caught a movie (Open Range - one thumb down) before returning home for a disco nap before the reception.
The reception location was odd, but fun. Derek and Allison had a beautiful ceremony in Playa del Carmen last week and wanted to do something to celebrate with all the folks that didn't make the trip, but Texadelphia? Comon! a Philly Cheesesteak chain? I was just happy to see Lara and my Dallas girlfriends (and get away from Houston and that big empty bed).
